We went to Gunton Hall for the four days of Christmas. From arrival to departure couldn't be faulted. We were greeted on arrival with a Welcome Pack which contained a card for every day of our stay. The cards listed everything that was happening on that particular day and evening, there was something for everyone, all day long.

The food was great, be prepared to put on a couple of pounds! We were fed three times a day, fantastic breakfast, good lunch and great dinner, you could eat as much as you like.

The entertainment team were superb, a great bunch of enthusiastic people. The resort staff couldn't have been more helpful and we didn't see anyone of the staff who wasn't smiling, from the gentleman who took our luggage at arrival to James our waiter in the restaurant. We had great service everywhere.

We had a chalet overlooking the lake, it was very warm and cosy. We had a great view of the firework display on Christmas Eve. We were lucky with weather and the walk from the chalet to the main building was a pleasure but I'm not sure how it would have been had it been raining.

If you get the opportunity to take the guided walk round the grounds it is well worth doing. The grounds are beautiful and the groundsmen who led the tour were very knowledgeable.

A word of warning though, if you go on the walk to church on Christmas Eve for Midnight Mass, be prepared to walk for an hour. We went to the hour long communion service, which was lovely, but the walk there and back nearly killed us. We thought it would take about 20 minutes!

our room was on the small side but more than adequate with a nice double bed
bathroom with a bath and shower.
we were in a lodge with a great view of the lake.tea and coffee and biscuits were replenished every day by our chalet maid and the room cleaned every day, brilliant
service by her and the same with all the other chalet people
