Lovely stay in the Garden Suite again at Gunton. On arrival there was a swift check in, then on to the lovely suite in a woodland setting. Bed is super comfy yet firm with loads of pillows. There's coffee making facilities including coffe sugar milk etc., Huge tv's in lounge and bedroom. Parking is close by to a lot of rooms. Plenty to choose for breakfast from fruit to full English and dinner choices were plentiful too, we even had help with choosing dietary options from personal staff. Entertainment and drinks in the evening with a great view from anywhere. Lots to do onsite from walks, archery, pool, bowls, rifles, crossbow, pitch and putt, quizzes, and more. Can't wait till our next visit too.
This is our second visit. We booked this 3 night stay to see ‘Gravity’ - they were excellent and gave their all on the Saturday evening. We prefer the new seating arrangement of ‘My Warner Table’ as it has really cut down on all the loud talking from groups of people whilst the performance is on. We base all our Warner breaks on the entertainment on the Saturday or Sunday and most of the shows we’ve seen have been marred by loud chatting and laughing whilst a performer is up on stage.
The renovated swimming pool is fab and I appreciate the lockers no longer being coin operated. It was also reassuring to see at least one Life Guard on duty whilst the pool was open.
The renovated dining area looks good and all the chefs are friendly and professional. The choice on offer at breakfast and dinner is superb and the food at the serving areas was always nicely presented. I particularly enjoyed the French evening when mussels were available - delicious! Not once did we come across shortages of food which others have referred to.
Unfortunately the first evening meal was not enjoyable. We arrived to find others sitting at our table, then we stood in the middle of the restaurant with guests looking at us whilst a second table was found to be double booked. The third table wasn’t our last as the evening didn’t improve as our server was preoccupied and had poor communication skills. In a high street restaurant you can choose not to return but this was only our first meal! We spoke to Amelia, supervisor, after our meal and asked to be moved. She ‘heard’ us which is all we wanted and she did so very professionally.
We were then served by Harrison and a new girl whose name I can’t remember - my apologies - they were both a delight and I wish them well.
We once again stayed in a Garden Lodge which we really like. Apart from swimming, we go walking to the beach or just read so the daytime activities aren’t on our radar.
Last but not least, Tina on reception is a natural at her job and creates a great first impression - she was always very pleasant and friendly. The other lady was very efficient because we only requested at 6.30pm for our ‘Signature’ wine to be replaced with a soft drink and on our return, after dinner, Housekeeping had left us two bottles of soft drinks. Great customer service by all!
All in all we enjoyed our break and intend to return.
